86% of homeless people report some form of mental health issue, wether diagnosed or undiagnosed.
44% of homeless people have been officially diagnosed with a mental health condition. This is a shockingly high percentage, considering the nation average statistic for mental health diagnosis is only 25%.
41% of homeless people reported using illicit substances, or having previously had a drug problem.
27% either have or have had alcohol problems.
It’s clear from these statistics that homeless people represent a very vulnerable sector of our community.
